An independent research centre founded in 1991, the
Flemish Institute for Technological Research (Vito) is
the largest and best-equipped research centre in
Belgium in the fields of energy, the environment and
advanced materials. At present Vito has 465 highly
skilled employees (over 50 % graduates, engineers and PhDs),
who dispose of state-of-the-art laboratories. In 2003 Vito's generated income rose
by 2.43 million euro to 24.30 million euro, representing an increase of 11% over 2002.
