Biography

Dr. Andrew Morgan is Chief Scientific Officer and Head of Technology & Business Development for Danisco. Andrew has over 28 years’ experience in industrial biosciences including industrial enzymes, food ingredients, health & nutrition, animal nutrition and plant biotechnology as well as innovation management and business development. He has worked and lived in the UK, Denmark, France, Finland, the Netherlands and USA.

 

Andrew is a Biochemistry graduate (B.Sc. and D.Phil.) from Sussex University and spent the first 12 years of his industrial research career with British Petroleum (BP Research and BP Nutrition – today Nutreco) working in the fields of plant and microbial biotechnology. Within Danisco, he has held various positions including Vice President for Bioscience Innovation, Director of the Cultor Technology Centre, Scientific Director to Danisco Venture, Vice President for Technology within Cultor's Feed Ingredients Division and Enzyme Development Manager for Finnfeeds International, a joint venture between BP and Cultor and now part of the Genencor Division within Danisco.

 

He is a member of various boards both within Danisco (Food Ingredients, Genencor and BioActives) and externally. The latter includes Chair of the Biosciences Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) and a member of the Board of the UK Government’s Industrial Biotechnology Leadership Forum. Previous Board memberships include SusChem European Technology Platform (2005 – 2007); Governing Body of Institute of Food Research in the UK  (2003 – 2009) and various start-up biotech companies.
